Secure, On-Premises AI for Enterprise Documents

-------

For organizations that do not want their data to be hosted on or routed through public cloud, a private AI document intelligence system can provide better privacy and optimal control.

Here is a recommended, strictly on-prem architecture, using Homer Core ,  the semantic control plane engine. It provides RAG like document/ knowledge intelligence as well as compliance document testing capabilities.

Internal Documents

{ Homer Core : Proprietary Intelligence Pipeline

Embedding Model (local)

Vector Database

Semantic Enrichment + Semantic Context Awareness Infusion }

Query from Employee

Retrieve relevant documents

Local LLM generates answer

This becomes a privately hosted AI document search system where the entire RAG pipeline : document ingestion, embedding generation, vector storage, and LLM inference runs on internal servers powered by hardware of the organization’s choice.

What Runs on the Private Server:

1. Homer Core : Document Processing Pipeline

Homer Core is a system that:

• Ingests enterprise documents across common technical formats.

• Normalizes and structures content into machine-interpretable representations.

• Applies semantic analysis to identify operational concepts and relationships.

• Enables reliable AI retrieval and contextual reasoning across enterprise knowledge.

2. An Embedding Model

A local AI model converts text into vector embeddings (numerical representations of meaning). These embeddings allow semantic search, meaning the system understands the intent of queries.

3. A Vector Database (optional, there are alternatives)

Embeddings are stored in a vector database. This database enables extremely fast similarity search across millions of document chunks.

4. A Local Language Model

A locally hosted LLM processes the retrieved documents and generates answers. This uses a technique called Retrieval-Augmented Generation, where the AI combines:

a. Retrieved document content

B. The user’s question to produce a response.

2. User Interface

Employees interact through:

1. A search portal

2. A chatbot-style interface

3. An enterprise knowledge portal

The system can run on standard enterprise infrastructure, including CPU servers or GPU-accelerated machines (e.g., NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel platforms), depending on the scale of document processing and AI workloads.

Who This Is For?

FinTech, Energy, Healthcare, and Defense organizations often require strict control over sensitive internal documentation. For these enterprises, an on-premises AI document intelligence system provides a pragmatic solution for adopting AI, while maintaining complete control over confidential information.
